The Talking Basketball

Jack loved basketball, but was horrible at it.  His Dad never had time to practice with him.  He was too busy with work.  Jack tried every day, but he couldn't do it.  Jack's Dad signed him up for a basketball team.  Jack was excited, but anxious and scared.  He didn't want to be laughed at when he would dribble off of his foot or miss a layup.

It was Jack's first game.  He couldn't feel his legs.  When he saw how big the other team was he ran outside crying.  His Dad ran out to find him.  He looked everywhere except for this one bush.  He looked around it and there was Jack, hands over his eyes.  His Dad sat next to him.  His Dad said, "Jack, it doesn't matter if you lose or win.  You just have to try your hardest and have fun."  Jack felt better after that.  He went back in there and tried.  They lost, but he had fun.

The next game Jack was not doing good.  He dribbled off of his foot 12 times and missed 6 easy shots.  It was the 3rd quarter with 4 minutes left.  They were down by 12 points.  The ball got flat so they had to get a new one, but we couldn't find one.  One ball rolled onto the floor.  Everybody looked around to see where it came from, but they had no clue.  The ball was perfect.  The Ref said it was fine so they played with that ball.

When Jack started dribbling sloppy, he heard voices.  It was weird.  They weren't voices from other people.  He looked at the ball.  Jack realized THE BALL WAS TALKING!  He panicked.  He wanted to tell the Ref, but no way they would believe him so he kept on playing.  Jack heard the voices.  The ball said, "Jack, listen to me."  Jack didn't want to.  He was so scared.  The ball said, "Jack, you can win this if you listen."

Jack said, "We're losing by 12.  That's impossible.  I'm horrible."

The ball said, "I can help you."

"How?" Said Jack.

"I will give you tips and good advice."

Jack said, "You might give me tips, but not the strength or skill," when all of a sudden Jack felt stronger and better.  "Wait, you did this," said Jack.

"Yes," said the basketball.

The basketball said to cross over once, then through the legs, and behind the back.  Jack dribbled up to the player and did the move.  The player fell.  Now he drove to the basket for a layup.  They were down by 10 now.

The basketball said, "When he switches it to his left hand steal it.  He can't use his left hand."  When he switched, Jack stole the ball.  He was running down the court, but there was a huge guy down low.  Jack couldn't make the layup so he pulled up for 3 and swished it.  Jack was amazing.  His Dad jumped up and cheered!  The whole place was on fire, everybody yelling and screaming for Jack.

Jack passed to his friend Ricky, then Ricky made the layup.  They were down by 5.  The underdogs were coming back.  The basketball told him to do a reverse layup.  Jack had no clue how to do that.  The basketball said, "Don't worry, it's just like a layup but on the other side.  Jack nodded.  He drove, bounced off the big guy and  reached out his arm, flicked the wrist, and it went in.  Down by 3.  Jack was so excited.

"Oh, no" Jack said.  The big guy was rushing down the court.  The ball said in his mind to swipe low.  Jack got down on the block and swiped.  The ball came loose.  He grabbed it and ran down the court with 5 seconds left.  He shot the 3 and got fouled.  The ball swished.  Jack just had to make the free throw.  He was so nervous but the ball said to believe in himself, so he did.  He shot and it rattled in.  They won the game, YAY!

Jack's Dad rushed down and gave Jack a hug.  He said, "I'm so proud of you," and the ball was too.  Jack brought the ball home and he practiced every day with his ball and the ball lead him to a championship.

The End.

The Babysitter

It was a typical evening. Mr. and Mrs. Green where going on a date. They had to get a babysitter for Tommy. Tommy was only 6 months old. They hired a sweet babysitter named Rose.

At 8:00 Rose arrived. The parents said good-bye, and then left. Then Rose said "Tommy, it's time for bed." She went up stairs to tuck Tommy in, but when she was tucking him in she looked at the window and there was a creepy clown with a knife. She screamed and looked at Tommy. Then when she looked back the clown was gone.

When the parents got back, Rose said that their house was haunted. She said that she saw a clown in the window, but the parents said they didn't have any windows in that room. Then she thought it must have been a mirror. That meant that the clown was in the house behind her stalking her with a knife.

They'd forgotten about Tommy. They raced up the stairs and Tommy was gone. They ran back down stairs. The clown had killed Tommy. Then they saw the clown in the window again, but it was another mirror. They looked behind them. There was the clown with a knife and sharp teeth watching them . . .

The Clock Man

One day I was playing basketball when I realized I was late for school. I ran to school as fast as my legs could go. When I got to the school I was ten minutes late. "Man, time sucks” I said. I also said that time was boring and stupid. An old and creepy lady said, "don’t make him mad.” "What?” I said. She said that time is not a thing, it is a he. I didn’t listen to the weird lady, I mean who would? When I got home from school I started on my homework, but realized that I had to go to my tutor. ”Time sucks” I said again.

After I got back from my tutor it was 9 o'clock. I was tired so I went to bed. I kept on dreaming about time and I had nightmares about time. Finally, when I woke up I tried to find my mom. I went to my parents bedroom but only my dad was in there. I pulled him out of the covers. He was old and grey and wrinkly. I was so scared I woke him up and asked, "Where's mom?" He said that she died 2 years ago. I ran outside crying not knowing what to do. But then I saw the same old lady. I ran over to her and asked, "What did you mean about time is not a thing, it is a he? She said if you make him mad he can change time. She said that he has a clock for a face and a man's body. She also said he lives in a mountain up in the south if I want to get my mother back.

I started walking south. I couldn't believe that this was happening. Finally I looked up and there was the mountain. I started running and crying at the same time, but for some reason I couldn't run. I started to get all wrinkly and old. Wait a second, he knew that I was coming! He changed time so I got old and couldn’t make it up the mountain. Finally when I got to the mountain I was so tired I didn't think I could make it. But with all my might I started up the mountain.

Finally I got to the top. I rested for a long time. Finally I got up and started looking for a house or a door. Finally I saw a door. I started heading toward the door. When I got there I snuck into the door. I saw all of the souls who were lost because he changed the time. I saw him sleeping and waiting for me, so I tip toed in. I saw my mom's soul. I walked toward it and got it. I was going out the door when he stopped me. I tried to run but he got a good grip on my arm. He threw me to the other side of the room. He was about to change time and kill me but the old woman came in tackling the clock man. Then she held him, punched his clock, and he was dead. All the souls went back to all of the children and so did mine.
